LA DEAL Receives Technical Assistance Award from LISC Broadband Help Hub

The Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL) is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive a technical assistance award from the LISC Broadband Help Hub (BHH) to support five community broadband networks located in historically underserved communities across Los Angeles County:
  • Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights – (CHIRLA) located in Pico Union
  • The City and School District of Lynwood Community Broadband Network
  • The City of Huntington Park Community Broadband Network
  • Pacoima Digital Equity Project – Pacoima
  • The Antelope Valley Community Broadband Network

This partnership marks a significant step forward in our mission to create community-driven broadband infrastructure opportunities that meet the needs of Angelenos for a more connected society.

A Community-First Approach to Planning
Over the next several months, the LISC Broadband Help Hub team will work closely with local leaders in each community to conduct interviews, gather insights, and assess existing broadband availability and mapping data. Their process is designed to be collaborative and transparent, ensuring that local knowledge and priorities drive the planning process from the ground up. The scope of this initial phase includes:
  • One-on-one interviews between BHH and community leaders in each of the five target areas;
  • Review of public mapping and broadband availability data to better understand existing infrastructure and service gaps;
  • Follow-up conversations to dig deeper into the local context, challenges, and opportunities;
  • A final deliverable for each community with tailored recommendations, data insights, and suggested next steps to move broadband implementation forward.
Laying the Groundwork for Future Investment
By the end of May, LA DEAL will receive a comprehensive set of findings and recommendations from the BHH team—a critical foundation that will help inform future investments, funding proposals, and community engagement strategies. From public infrastructure projects to local entrepreneurship and workforce development, these insights will help us shape more effective, inclusive solutions that expand digital opportunity for all. We thank LISC and the Broadband Help Hub for their partnership, and we look forward to the work ahead. Stay tuned for updates as we begin this exciting new phase of work with our five partner community projects.
