California Public Utilities Commission California Advanced Services Fund Broadband Infrastructure Grant Account
On Thursday, July 10, 2025 the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) – Broadband Infrastructure Grant Account (IGA) Team held an engaging and informative webinar that detailed some updates that will be coming to the broadband grant program. The team detailed some new additional data sets that will be incorporated into the California Interactive Broadband Map that details residential and mixed-use residential broadband serviceable locations that will be identified as either eligible or priority eligible for CASF – IGA funding come October 31, 2025. The new layer will include FCC data that will illustrate fixed broadband availability. This image was showcased during the live webinar; however, this FCC data layer is not yet live on the Interactive Broadband Map, the CASF Team indicated live updates might arrive by the end of July 2025.

Another update potential project sponsors should be aware of is the need to secure CostQuest Fabric data, as it will be the data set that has broadband serviceable location IDs. The CASF IGA application requires that you submit a geographic location of all proposed serviceable locations in a plain-text, comma-separated values (CSV format) file, or shapefile that contains geo-located street address information, including latitude and longitude coordinates. Technical assistance resources are located in the CPUC website linked to here.
The CASF IGA Team also shared the 2025 – 2026 timeline which indicates CASF Infrastructure Account Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2025, with draft resolutions recommending project approvals being released on May 15, 2026.
