The Future of Digital Opportunity in Los Angeles County Summit
The Future of Digital Opportunity in Los Angeles County Summit
On May 15th, California State University–Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), the County of Los Angeles, Digital Equity Los Angeles (DELA), and the Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL) co-hosted the Future of Digital Opportunity in Los Angeles County Summit at Barton Elementary School in Long Beach.
The Summit was a significant step in Los Angeles County’s collaborative efforts to address the digital divide. More than 80 leaders from diverse sectors, including County and Local government entities, education institutions, non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, and the private sector, came together to co-create community-centered strategies to advance digital equity countywide.
The Summit featured inspiring highlights from the Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program, a federally funded grant program led by CSUDH’s Workforce Integration Network (WIN) team. The Program, with its focus on delivering digital skills training, promoting the adoption of broadband internet services, and establishing workforce pathways for historically underserved communities, has already made a significant community impact. Attendees engaged in collaborative breakout sessions focused on co-building a regional digital equity strategy.
Attendees engaged in collaborative breakout sessions focused on barriers to broadband access, digital literacy, device availability, and how to sustainably scale regional solutions. These interactive dialogues are part of an ongoing effort to co-create a regional digital equity strategy that reflects community priorities and centers equity.
As Dr. Krystal Rawls, Ph.D., Director of the WIN program, powerfully stated: “Collaboration is our competitive strategy.”
From ideation sharing to collective visioning, the Summit affirmed that trust, partnerships, and people power will drive progress in digital equity for Los Angeles County. We’re not just excited but committed to continuing this journey with all of our community partners. We look forward to building a more connected and inclusive future together, and we are confident in our collective ability to make a difference.
