The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has officially opened the BEAD Project Application process. Applications are due by May 9, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. PST, and must be submitted through the BEAD Application Portal.
These grants can help fund broadband mapping, infrastructure planning, provider partnerships, and digital skills training.

Applications opened on December 12, 2024, and the deadline to apply is May 30, 2025.
The California Public Utilities Commission collects up to $150 million per year until December 31, 2032 for use by the CASF program. Grant awards are made based on the Broadband Availability Map. The 2025 CASF Infrastructure application deadline is pending, contingent upon the finalization of the CPUC’s current application review.
Proposals to the CPUC are due on October 31, 2025.
The 2025 Digital Equity Spark Grants cycle opens May 27 and closes June 10. This round will focus on organizations working in California.

LISC is now accepting proposals for its Broadband Planning Help Hub, offering free technical assistance to support local broadband initiatives. This program is part of the National Broadband Technical Assistance Marketplace.
Eligible applicants include community-facing organizations leading broadband efforts. Services are offered on a rolling basis and include infrastructure planning, funding strategy, digital literacy, and community tech hub development.

The Connecting the Unconnected funding program supports communities and local organizations working to build and expand Internet infrastructure to connect people living in rural, remote, and low-income areas. This includes initiatives such as community networks, municipal networks, cooperatives, and other forms of complementary access solutions.
Application Review Process
There are 2 windows during which applications will be accepted: from February 4 to March, 31 2025 and from July 15 to August 27, 2025.
Applications are reviewed by the Internet Society, the Internet Society Foundation, and external experts to determine if they meet the eligibility requirements and are aligned with the focus areas. Please note that this process could take up to ten (10) weeks.
